Webster K. Cavenee Ph.D., Director of the San Diego Branch, awarded the 2nd Annual Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Prize for Progress in Cancer Research

Dr. Cavenee was today awarded the Prize by the National Foundation for Cancer Research in honor of his groundbreaking discoveries regarding the mechanisms of predisposition to human cancer. Dr. Cavenee’s research led to the first hard experimental evidence for the existence of tumor suppressor genes in humans.
