Branch Changes: Lausanne, London, São Paulo and Stockholm
Branch Director Vacancies
Branch Director positions in São Paulo, Lausanne and Stockholm are currently, or soon to be, vacant. Search Committees that will identify candidates for new Branch Directors for Brazil and Switzerland are being headed by Dr. Sam Hellman (Scientific Advisory Committee) and Dr. Richard D. Kolodner (Executive Director for Laboratory Sciences & Technology), respectively. The Search Committees have begun identifying candidates and have, in the case of the São Paulo position, interviewed potential candidates. A Search Committee for the Stockholm Branch Director position is yet to be formed.
Branch Sites
The Scientific Directorate is committed to assessing continuously the environment at each Branch/Center and its relationship with its host institution so as to ensure the best opportunities for the staff and students and their research. As reported in the ‘Strategic Assessment & Plan,’ host environments need to offer clear research advantages for the Branch/Center and the Institute to justify an LICR presence. The turnover of a Branch/Center Director represents a logical point at which the Branch/Center site is reassessed. The sites of the UCL, Lausanne and Sao Paolo Branches are being assessed currently.
The Scientific Directorate has determined, in conjunction with senior staff at the Stockholm Branch, that the best option for access to cutting-edge technology, a stimulating and diverse intellectual environment, translational and clinical opportunities, as well as access to students and well-trained personnel remains the renowned Karolinska Institute.
