Most LICR research is investigator-initiated work aimed at understanding how and why cancer onset and progression occur. Fundamentally, we know that mutations in genes disrupt biochemical signaling that drives normal cell biology causing the subversion of various biological processes — such as cell growth, division, migration and energy metabolism, blood and lymph vessel growth, and the immune response — that allow tumor growth and spread. Clinical
LICR is committed to exploring the prognostic, diagnostic and/or therapeutic potential of its discoveries by conducting clinical research in the human setting. You can read recent, somewhat technical, highlights of LICR clinical research, most of which is focused on exploring the therapeutic modalities of cancer vaccines, targeted antibodies and small molecule inhibitors.
